Dear Friend,
If you are new to our page, let me explain who we are and what we are doing!
Most webpages are a means of marketing - tell you all the good stuff, refrain from the bad, hoping you buy in. Though we are forever tempted to and sometimes fall into that trap, the right intent (in our better moments) of these pages is to enlighten, encourage and inform...not manipulate.
The Dehnerts are a family from the state of Wyoming in the USA who have been called by God and sent by Covenant Presbyterian Church to teach at African Bible College in Lilongwe, Malawi. Malawi is a long, skinny country in southeastern Africa nearMozambique, Zambia and Tanzania [you can learn more about it on the About Malawi page].
Missionaries are so often treated as something extraordinary and we would prefer if this webpage would dispel some of those notions. Living in a foreign culture can be an extraordinary challenge that most are not used to, yet it has its own incredible blessings that are simply different than living in our home culture.
Because we want it to be interesting, our Blog will present you with our thoughts about some extraordinary things that happen to us in the midst of our work with our brothers and sisters in Africa. Nearly all we talk about on that page are the extraordinary things and not the daily grind that everyone has in this life, living in a fallen world, struggling with indwelling sin, and at odds with our fellow human beings.
It is important to realize that you only are getting a tiny perspective of our lives here and you might be quite surprised to see that we live in a nice, normal house and work with rather normal people and have most of the same problems (adding water and electricity to that list) as we did in the US in a different cultural, environmental setting.
